Gas pipelines

Gas supply to Danish customers is almost entirely based on domestic supply from offshore fields in the Danish sector of the North Sea. The gas is transported through two 220 km long transmission pipelines to the gas treatment plant on the west coast of Jutland.

After processing, the gas is transported to the Danish, Swedish and German markets through a widespread system of steel and plastic pipelines covering the entire country. There is about 4.000 km steel pipelines and 16.500 km plastic pipelines.

DGC's mission within the field of gas transportation is to assist the gas companies in coordinating and carrying out projects to ensure the safe operation of the gas pipeline system and the necessary maintenance and further development of the system.

DGC gives advice on rules and regulations, corrosion, odorants, gas quality tracking, metering, new gases on the grid, materials, etc.
